PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma also know as Dracula Face or Vampire Face Ashton-under-Lyne

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) utilises the body’s natural healing mechanisms to elicit wound repair and tissue regeneration. Platelets are a rich source of growth factors including Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF). Transforming Growth Beta (TGB ), Insulin-like Growth Factor -1 (IGF-1) Epidermal growth Factor (EGF), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGB). During the treatment the platelets and plasma are first derived from the patient’s blood sample by centrifugation.

How does PRP work?

A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient in the exact way a blood sample is taken. The blood is put in to a sterile tube and is then placed in a centrifuge to stimulate and produce and activate the plasma through separation of the plasma, platelets and blood cells and other blood components. The platelets are activated to release growth factor within a few minutes of being spun in the centrifuge and the plasma and concentrated platelets are removed from the tube ready to use. The PRP can be reintroduced in to the site of the skin, injury, scars or obvious lines and wrinkles. Using a small needle the practitioner will inject the PRP in around the desired site.

When the PRP is injected locally in to the patients skin the product stimulates regeneration and rejuvenation. This occurs by multiple mechanisms including stem cell proliferation, epidermal thickening, angiogenesis (increasing blood supply) and stimulation of the dermal collagen and elastin production. In addition to platelets the plasma component of the product plays an important role in the treatment process and contains many factors essential for cell survival including nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins. The plasma proteins include essential molecules for the coagulation process and generation of the fibrin polymer that serves as a scaffold for cell migration, which is important in skin regeneration. The Fibrin entraps the platelets at the site of action, ensuring the efficient distribution of growth factors. The fibrin gel also exerts direct volumising effects on the patients skin.

PRP can be used to treat the tell tale signs of ageing. Fine lines and wrinkles and tired skin and acne scars and stretch marks can be dramatically reduced/improved.

PRP is a 100% natural procedure without any animal products and derivative of any other foreign material.

Because the platelets are produced from your own blood, there is no risk of rejection or disease transmission or reaction.

PRP also works on growth factors on the hair follicle to reduce hair loss too.

How long does it take?

30-60 mins

How many treatments are needed and how often?

Responses to treatments can vary but usually 1-3 treatments are advised. Each set of treatments are recommended 4-6 weeks apart usually. There are no set limit on the number of treatments you can have and your specialist practitioner will determine you protocol depending upon your skin condition and specific needs.

What results can I expect from the treatment?

Improvement of the skins texture and tone are noticeable within 3 weeks of the procedure. Full collagen regeneration can take up to 3 months.

Can any skin type or colour have PRP?

Yes PRP can be performed on all skin types and colour.

Are the results immediate?

If used alone some results may be immediately evident but time will continue to improve the skin as the collagen is stimulated. Swelling and fluid from the PRP will be evident initially then once this has settled down. After a few days/ weeks the collagen will release growth factors and pre stem cells. These will assist in more collagen growth. If mixed with HA Filler the results may be instantly more visible and will continue to improve over a few weeks.

How long will the treatment(s) last?

Treatment results vary, however most treatments last 18 months. Touch up treatments will maintain the results.

What are the Post treatment side effects?

Minimal bruising and swelling and redness for 12-24 hours post procedure. Some small bruising may remain for a few days after.
